Top 3 Festival Essentials

As we all know, festival season is fast approaching. I'm sure that lots of you have bought your tickets to Reading & Leeds, Creamfields, V Fest, Download, whatever type of do floats your boat! I went to Reading Festival for the weekend last year, and boy was it an experience and a half! I spent a lot of time trying to compile a list of bits and bobs that I thought I needed in preparation, and ended up not needing most of it. So, I thought I'd craft a little top 3 of essentials that I used the most during my festival experience.

  1. Glitter. So. Much. Glitter. Although some may not class this as an 'essential', it was definitely my most used item! All the girls in camp had developed a routine of waking up and religiously applying glitter while eating breakfast, it was quite the sight! I ordered some loose pots of the stuff off of Amazon, which only costed a pound or two for a good 15 pots. I used clear 'glitter glue' as well as tubes of 'liquid' glitter to stick it on, and I liked to layer up the liquid with the loose so that it made a solid feature which wouldn't flake off during the day.
  2. Minis. Honestly, minis are life savers! They can fit perfectly in bum bags, which are the holy grail of festival living. The Mad Beauty Ultimate Handy Set* is the perfect summary of all the minis you need, as it comes with hand cream, wet wipes, a moisturising hand sanitiser and a pack of tissues. The wet wipes are super handy, as there's a distinct lack of on-hand running water on festival sites, so a quick wipe down is an ideal on-the-go freshener! The same applies to the hand sanitiser, as there isn't always the opportunity to wash your hands before eating, so to avoid any icky bugs, spritz a bit of sani' and you're all set! Of course, tissues are always handy for the occasional unfortunate spillage (there's a lot of spillages), and the hand cream is just a nice lil' luxury to keep you feeling slightly human amongst the chaos! The yummy cherry scent is a bonus, but if you'd prefer, the set also comes in a coconut alternative. At £8.99 for all four items, its a huge steal as it saves shopping around and even comes in a lil' pouch of its own!
  3. Sun safety. Festivals, being outdoor events, mean exposure to the elements. If you're lucky, the main weather you will face will be the sun. As much as we all love a tan, sleeping in a stuffy tent with sunburn is really not good fun! I'd highly recommend taking a high factor sun cream (remember to re-apply constantly throughout the day!) and a good pair of sunnies. Sunglasses can also double as an outfit jazzer-upper, which is a total bonus! Staying hydrated in hot weather is also really important, especially when crowds can sometimes get quite suffocating. Avoid any light-headed-ness or even fainting by keeping a little bottle on you whenever possible.
I hope my little list can help some of you pack for this summer! Although, don't stress too much about packing, you really don't need as much as you think you do!

What festivals are you going to this summer?

  1. I'm such a festival newbie but minis is such a clever idea! And hand sanitiser too, I feel like I'd stock up on the hand sanitisers.
